"Rags to riches" is the theme of Break. Sam Gittins plays Spencer Pryde, a brilliant inner-city youth who wastes his abilities on petty criminality. Spencer's life appears to be spiraling out of control after witnessing the brutal murder of his friend Denis and becoming indebted to a drug dealing thug named Ginger, until one day, a chance encounter with a Chinese stranger and former eight-ball pool champion named Vincent Quiang (David Yip) presents him with an opportunity to turn his life around. It's a fact of life that in order to start anew, Spencer will first have to get away from all those negative influences that have accumulated over the years.
