Bound by Honor
The film is based on the true story of poet Jimmy Santiago Baca and centers on half-brothers Paco and Cruz, as well as their bi-racial cousin Miklo. It begins in 1972, when the three are members of an East Los Angeles gang known as the "Vatos Locos," and follows their lives as a result of a brutal crime and the effect of narcotics. Miklo is imprisoned and transferred to San Quentin, where he establishes his own "house." Cruz develops into an excellent artist, but his life is tragically cut short by a heroin addiction. Paco becomes a cop and an adversary of Miklo, his "carnal."
