Aces High
The First World War is in its third year, and aerial warfare above the Western Front is rapidly eating the nation's favored youngsters. By early 1917, the average British pilot's life expectancy was less than a fortnight. Such casualties throw an enormous strain on Gresham, the squadron's commanding commander. Aces High recreates the early years of the Royal Flying Corps through some wonderfully staged aerial fights, and the sympathetic directing conveys a touching message about war's futility.
