In 1953, a sensitive French boy learns that his family is Jewish. François Grimbert becomes a physician, slowly uncovering his concealed family background and his terrible upbringing by his "Aryan" parents. His athletic father worked hard to keep his son's Jewish identity hidden, as most of his ancestors served in WWII and were ultimately deported to labor and death camps by the Gestapo.
